Fleas and ticks are commonly introduced to your home via your pets but can infest your home even without the presence of domesticated animals. Fleas love hairy animals and can be on cats, dogs, rabbits, rats and mice. Fleas are parasites and will bight and feed off of humans which can itch and leave a rash. Fleas are well adapted for jumping. A flea can jump vertically up to 18 cm and horizontally up to 33 cm, making the flea one of the best jumpers of all known animals. They will hop around your house, from animal to animal and room to room.

Ticks are more dangerous than fleas as they are known to spread tick bite fever and Lyme disease and as such can be dangerous to your family and your pets. An uncontrolled tick infestation can be very detrimental. Ticks can live up to 3 years without a meal so simply removing the infected animal will not necessarily solve the problem.
